BIO:
Nathan D’Angelo was a first year player selected in the 8th and final round of the first ever entry draft by the Calgary Dragons, he was selected just four picks shy of the last overall pick. A grinder tough guy Nathan lived up to those expectations, collecting a healthy amount of penalty minutes every season. Nathan was a goon as he was an active member of the fight club and during his tenure he managed to win the fight club championship. Nathan was more then just a goon and a penalty machine he was a Frank Selke winner and became a leader in the Calgary Dragon organization. He took over as GM of the Calgary Dragons creating one of the more active teams in the league. In his final seasons Nathan doubted his ability to compete and contemplated retirement much earlier then his actual retirement. In response to his personal doubts he helped tutor young players bringing in a new era in the Calgary franchise, all the while putting up a few of the best season he had ever put up. While Nathan may have never won the Championship he desired he has exceeded all expectations and created an SHL legend.

*Update*
No longer the Calgary GM Nathan would unretire and return as a defenseman to help his team reach the promise land, rounding out a struggling defensive core. Through hard work over the summer Nathan transformation from forward to defender was flawless and he took over as a rugged blueliner. Through his devotion to the game the Dragons were able to capture not one, but back to back Challenge Cups and the aging vetrean was able to finally retire getting the only thing he missed during his entire career.

BIO:
Tony Falone was one of the founding fathers of the SHL. As a creator of the Hamilton Steelhawks he is the man that ushered in the first wave of stars including Ron Mexico and Scott Stevens. He was an all star, and a living legend in the SHL. He was traded to the Calgary Dragons at the start of season 4 in that first season his presence was felt as he won the Dragon’s Jesster Award as team MVP. He continued to play for the dragons for two more season tutoring young prospects Adrian Richan and Frankie Fencepost. Currently playing for the Vancouver Nightmare, Tony Falone is now inactive and because of his efforts for the league he has been accepted into the Hall of Fame.

BIO:
Every team needs a heart and soul defender that plays every game like its his last, and for 7 seasons Waldo Cezar was that for the Dragons. As the original GM for the Dragons, Cezar never was an offensive type of player, but he did have a couple of good seasons in season 5 and 6. Instead he made his presence known with his hard work, physical play, and self sacrifice putting himself in the way of the puck. He was the player everyone else was proud to play for and wanted to do more with the effort he put forth on the defensive end. Despite his impressive effort he only had one season where he finished as a plus rated player, nothing against what he did as he was a shutdown defender playing against the best in the league time and again. He never won a championship or trophy, but that was not part of his game as Waldo was solely focused on the team itself over the individual. While he may not be retired, Cezar is inactive and no longer a part of the Dragons so we have given him a place in the Dragons Hall of Fame.

BIO:
There is something to be said about being the first overall pick ever in a league, not only was Ryan Jesster the first overall pick but a GM traded a lot of assets to get him at first overall. With that one move Ryan Jesster became the face of the Calgary Dragons. Despite the hard times in the early years for Calgary there was always one pillar to lean on and it was Jesster. He carried the team at times, it may have not always shown but when Calgary won it was Jesster’s tireless effort that made it possible. Through out his career Ryan was a role model for the league through the many ways he has helped support it; a co-gm, a simmer, a historian, he got a trophy named after himself and now he has entered a GM role on his own team. While there was always a worry he may never become a champion he and the Dragons put it all together in what could be known as Jesster’s swan song in season 8 as the Calgary Dragons finally won the Challenger Cup being lead by an All World performance by Ryan. To this day he will be remembered as a Ferndao Garcia Trophy winner, a Sarmad Khan Trophy winner, a Mike Honcho Trophy Winner, a Anton Razov Trophy Winner, and to those who got the privilege to play with him and more importantly got to know him as a friend.

BIO:
There have been few leaders in the SHL as Trevor Smith has been for the Dragons. He has been a team captain, lead the team in points and been the Co-GM twice for the Dragons. Whether a direct leader of the team or not he has been a guild to the SHL for many rookies and Dragons in general. While Trevor Smith rarely reached the competitive level expected with the 5th overall pick, he has always been a consistent contributor on the team. In an odd way that may be the best way to describe Smith as a player and a person, he always puts the needs of the team above his own. It was more important for the team to win and keep star players then Trevor getting the minutes or points. A previous Calgary Dragon’s Ryan Jesster Award winner it is easy to say the reversal in the Dragon’s fortunes and current success started when Trevor Smith was drafted and the focal point of the offense started to build around him. Now that he has moved on the final part of the old Dragon era has moved on as well.

Aidan Richan will always have one word attached to his name, winner. From the stat side of his player through out his entire career as a Dragon he had a positive rating, something very difficult to do. He developed as a player to one of the best defensemen to lace up skates. He was a positive person in the locker room, and an amazing team mate on the ice. When he assumed the role as GM, Aidan Richan made some of the boldest moves in Calgary’s trade history to get the players he thought were needed to make a run at a cup with. These bold moves brought Calgary it’s first and second Challenge Cup, and made them the second team in SHL history to accomplish such a feat. Even in the individual awards categories Aidan managed to clean up winning two back to back JJKever Awards. The Dragons have been blessed with the addition of Aidan Richan on their team and with his leadership, desire, and drive they have excelled to levels they would never have achieved without.

In a surprise move according to most draft experts Reggie Williams was picked at second overall in the season 6 draft. This is just the beginning as Reggie went above and beyond to prove these experts wrong. Reggie then spent the next few years developing his craft and becoming one of the best two way centers to ever play in the SHL. His devotion to his craft won him the Damian Littleton Trophy as well as the Dragon’s Jesster Award for team MVP. Williams will always be remembered for his monster season as his final swan song as he stepped out of the light as a wingman and took over as the offensive force for the Dragons. Two Challenge Cups and a number of all star games later and Williams will always be remembered as one of the most loved Dragons.

BIO
Erik Chisling was drafted in the second round 13th overall in the season 5 draft by the newly found franchise the Los Angeles Panthers. While selected early and high expectations on his shoulders Chisling did not find immediate success. That did not mean it did not come for Erik, the very next season with a surprise trade to the Manhattan Rage he exploded, and during his time there he twice capturing the Scott Stevens Award. While individual success was great Chisling wanted something more and he dreamed of winning the greatest award in the SHL. Giving up his co-GM position Erik orchestrated a trade to become a part of the powerhouse Calgary Dragons, the trade was made during the end of the playoff run to Calgary’s first Challenge Cup and that only heated Chisling’s desire. While his next season in Calgary was not the same as his offensive performances in Manhattan he found a more complete two way game. With the combination of the best regular season record in SHL history the Calgary Dragons went on to win their second cup in two seasons and Chisling’s first and only of his career. The final seasons for Chisling showed he still had enough to compete against the best in the league as the Dragons made one more run to the Challenge cup finals before falling short in game 5. Chisling will always be remembered for his time in Manhattan when he was on top of his game, but here in Calgary we will never forget the efforts made by the first Dragon to reach the SHL Hall of Fame.

BIO:
His time in Calgary was really too short, he was a great player, arguably the player that put Calgary over the top into its first Challenge Cup. Bolt lead a great career in the SHL both on and off the ice, being the GM of the Steelhawks twice, the junior commissioner, and SHL commissioner, he even became recognized for his efforts and won the Damian Littleton trophy. He moulded and guided a number of the greats now playing in the SHL and was a key builder for the league itself. On the ice Bolt was one of the best two way forwards on the ice, he was a name that was associated with greatness even though he had never won an individual award or trophy for the efforts his player made. That was the kind of player he was he built up the team as the foundation for greatness and allowed others to shine in the light. It is sad that he has retired as a player and from the league itself, he will be sorely missed, the Dragons will forever remember the second player to be a Dragon inducted into the SHL and Dragon’s Hall of Fame.

BIO:

Kain Webb was drafted by the Dragons back in season 5, he somehow fell into the second round and was picked with the 16th overall pick in that draft by the Dragons, he ended up being arguably the best player out of that draft class and was not only one of the greatest Dragons of all time but one of the greatest SHL players of all time. He was the captain of the Dragons twice, a Jesster winner, a Mexico winner, a Razov winner, a three time Jay McDonald winner, GM'd the Dragons and won the JJ Krever award (while building one of the greatest Dragons squads of all-time), he also won two Challenge Cups, he was the glue that held the Dragons forward group together. But I don't think that's what Kain will be remembered for, I think Kain Webb will be remembered as one of the greatest people the SHL has ever known, there are few people in the league that are as classy as he was, in the locker room he was always someone who stayed positive the matter the circumstance, always knew exactly what to say and when to say it, he was one of the greatest teammates a lot of Dragons players have ever had, and was just an all around awesome person. If there is anyone that deserves to get into the Dragons Hall of Fame it is Kain Webb, and I am very honoured to be able to induct him.

Barkov started his career in the NWJHL in season 10 With the Vancouver Whalers where he won a championship as a rookie and also took home a Bronze Medal for team Finland in the S10 IHG World Juniors. A great start to what would become a legendary career for Barkov. After playing the next season with Chicago in the NWJHL where he won the Michael Haan trophy as the Chicago Hitmens most dedicated player, Barkov then took his game to the SHL and began his Dragons career. He went on to have an indredible career for the Dragons putting up 348 points in 551 games while throwing an astounding 1,159 hits. Always a threat to score or put someone through the boards, Barkov was always one of Calgary’s best players. He was also one of the hardest working and most well respected players in the league. He always carried himself with class and provided great leadership both on and off the ice. His positive attitude and work ethic was infectious and made all those around him better. At the time of writing he is 2nd all-time in games played for Calgary and will go down as one of the best Dragons players of all-time.

BIO:

Vlad started out with the Whalers in S4 and was drafted by the North Stars in the S5 SHL Draft. He was later traded to the Chiefs in S5 and then to the Dragons in S6, which could be considered one of the most important trades in franchise history. Vlad Smirnov is a true Dragon and has given so much to the organization both on and off the ice. He always provided excellent defensive play and had a career +/- of +135, which it’s a testament to his immense talent. Vlad finished with 392 points in 843 career games and is a member of the 300 assist club! For a player who was more known for his defensive game he sure proved he can put up offensive numbers and currently ranks 2nd all time in points for Calgary.Vlad was a crucial member of the Season 8 and 9 back to back Cup teams and was even named a league all-star in season 8. As a young player coming into his prime he was a big part of those championships. Smirnov has played in 137 playoff games for the Dragons and his veteran leadership was one of the reasons Calgary made the playoffs 14 straight seasons. He knows what it takes to win and more importantly what it takes to lead. He is a player of amazing character and the commitment he’s shown to the Dragons organization is truly remarkable. If Calgary could clone this guy they would. He is a true class act and has an incredible work ethic, not to mention his sense of humor makes him a perennial locker room favorite. It is truly my honor to welcome Vlad Smirnov into the Calgary Dragons Hall of Fame!
