First off, I would like to thank caltroit_red_flames for the incredible amount of hard work he has put into making this happen, I had floated the idea for doing this before but he came in with an insane work ethic and some great ideas and this really wouldn't be happening without him. Thank you also to Zoone16 and artermis for some really great input too. But anyway, the big news.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the wait is finally over.

After many seasons of absence the IIHF is proud to announce the World Junior Championships will be returning this season!

All players who ended S38 on an SMJHL team are eligible to play for the assigned World Junior team. Because of the small number of players in the junior league, the teams will not be the same ones as at the World Championships. Teams were created in a way to allow the maximum number of players to be involved in the tournament. The teams are:

Team USA Blue
Team USA White
Team Canada Red
Team Canada Black
Team Ireland
Team British Isles (Great Britain, Ireland, Northern Ireland)
Team Norway & Sweden
Team Denmark & Finland
Team Europe East (Latvia, Lithuania, Russia)
Team Europe West (France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Spain)
Team Europe Central (Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Switzerland)
Team Mercenaries (Australia, Brazil, Madagascar, New Zealand, South Africa, and any players not chosen by the other 11 teams)

It is important to note as well that this is totally independent to the main IIHF tournament. Any commitments you have made in terms of transfers in that league don't apply to this tournament.

The tournament will take place during the offseason, following the conclusion of the main IIHF tournament and before the beginning of the S39 regular season. Before that time, we will need to get a two things done:

Get GMs for teams
Put together tournament rosters

To start with the first issue, finding GMs, we are opening applications up for team GMs. If you are interested, please fill out the following questions and leave it as a comment.

Why do you think you’d make a good GM for this tournament?

Why are you interested in becoming a GM for this tournament?

We'd really like to see everyone get involved with this and really urge anyone who's interested to apply for a GM role. This is a great opportunity to dip your toe into the murky waters of GMing in the SHL and could help stand you in stead when you go for any jobs in the future. Good luck to all teams, and good luck to everyone who applies!

Why do you think you’d make a good GM for this tournament? I like doing research and scouting. I'm also always trying to learn more about the sim and what works and what doesn't. I'm super interested in being a GM in the future and I think that it would be great to start somewhere.

Why are you interested in becoming a GM for this tournament? While I won't be able to lead Austria alone, I think it would be fun to take the central euro bois to a championship.Plus for future experience in being a GM

Why do you think you’d make a good GM for this tournament? Would make sure my players have a fun time as well as have a high compete level

Why are you interested in becoming a GM for this tournament? Would be cool to meeting the new guys that are in the Junior level that haven't played against

Idk if I'm even allowed to GM since I'm not a Junior player lool.

Why did you split of Scandanavia?

Why "Team Mercenary" rather than "Team World" which used to exist in SHL

Because we wanted to give more opportunities for playing time.

Because that's what we decided to go with.

Do you have any more questions? http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/happy/happy0163.gif

To anyone who does not like the teams, direct your anger toward me. I'm the main person who said we should have teams in this fashion so we can include the most players possible.

We will be having 2 mini drafts between the USA teams and the Canadian teams. I believe this is most fair way to split up the teams.

Ireland has a lot of players, enough for about a team and a half. Britain, Northern Ireland and Wales all have players. We figure that Ireland can take the players they want, then give the rest of their players to the British Isles.

If you are unhappy with these decisions, I personally apologize, but I think this is better than only having the USA, Canada, Ireland and a Scandinavian team.

Why do you think you’d make a good GM for this tournament?

I used to do a ton of simming in various video games for the last 18 years and absolutely love building teams to put togeather for championships. I have my eye on GMing in the future and this would be an epic way to start. As well as make myself more well known here AND to learn this new engine and grow the IIHF World Juniors in a larger capacity other than playing in it.

Why are you interested in becoming a GM for this tournament?

I did touch on this alot above but i think having rookies who want to learn GMing, or just want to show that initiative on this site would be a huge thing, particularly if you aren't a good writer or graphically inclined like me http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/winking/winking0001.gif

Team you are interested in GMing: Either of the US teams

Why do you think you’d make a good GM for this tournament?: I'm around all of the time, I just transferred to USA and I know a tiny bit about sths.

Why are you interested in becoming a GM for this tournament?: It's good experience for potential GMing in the future without all of the pressure. I'd like to give myself a ton of ice time because I'm a douche.
